i made the mistake of doing it myself in a driveway and getting it out from the bottom, what i bolitch it was but i did it in 3 1/2 hours i did it myself in my driveway with not all the right tools but i managed to do it mine was particularly stressful because the previous owner had the exhaust done and it had a lip on it that i was fighting i had no choice but to just pull the steering rack lines out of the way and i finally go it out then i had my dad hold the new one in place from the side as i tightened the bolts from the bottom everything was plug and play but god damn fuck that sway bar i fraught it bad to get it back on

I’m following this but I’ve pulled my pitman arm off and now I’m wondering how you know where it’s supposed to go back on? Like how do you figure out which splines on the shaft are the correct orientation for it?

Some hydraulic jacks have kerosene as an additive to the hydraulic oil. Welding to the jack can cause an explosion. Just saying. I know how old this video is just a warning to anyone that might try this.

I didn’t take the bracket off yet on bell housing, I didn’t think about it helping to get to top bolt. That top mf bolt is a bitch! And still in there, so gonna take bracket off tomorrow after work and see if I can get it off. Video was great btw!

How in the ever living fuck does that worm gear/input shaft keeper with the pin wrench come off on a 4runner IFS box? I've got 2 rotations out of it but that fucker is tight and keeps breaking tools. I've never been so defeated.

So I'm wanting to 5 speed swap my 3rz rwd 2000 4runner could I get a 2wd Tacoma for a doner or is the trans different also are the trans in the 3.4 the same as the 2.7?..tia

Was thinking of upgrading mine also but my question is how big of a compressor and tank is needed ? Will a pancake compressor work ?? I don’t think so but anything is possible I’m going to assume but I rather check first on this one lol

Very useful video, this steering box is very similar to the one found on a 91 4x4 Toyota pickup. Be careful with that power plunger nut because I rounded that too.
